Working with families in a most sacred time.

Hi there! I’m Liz Haebe, and I’m a labor doula presently working on certification. I have been working with families for two years, and nothing brings me greater joy than helping families bring a new little life into the world. I have always felt called towards childbirth and towards helping families, especially those who choose to give birth. I enjoy getting to know families and meeting new ones as they make their way into this world, and I feel honored and humbled when a family has decided to let me into their most sacred of spaces.

When I first start working with clients, I like to have an initial meeting with them to see if we are a good fit. This isn’t an interview for me to interview YOU, rather to see if you and I will click. There’s a doula out there for everyone, and if we don’t click, I’ll be sure to point you in the right direction.

Once it’s been decided we are a good fit, I will meet with you (and your partner if they wish) about two times prior to the birth so that we can talk over any logistics and discuss your wishes. I’m happy to go over a birth plan with you, and we can use this time to answer questions and begin to develop our “client/doula relationship”. Noting your due date, two weeks before you’re set to deliver, I’ll begin the on-call portion of my duties. During this time, I will not leave the city (unless I’ve already discussed this with you), and I will be available to meet you wherever you need me to begin helping with labor. Of course, babies aren’t always “on time” so I will remain on call two weeks after your estimated due date as well.

After the birth, I will usually follow up either by text message or email, and I will try to set up a good time to come over and see you in person. At that time, I can help you to process your birth story, or we can simply chat about how you’re feeling and what the next steps would be.

Most importantly, my job is to make sure you have the birth experience you want. A doula isn’t there to speak for you, rather, I am there to encourage you to advocate for yourself, and to feel comfortable and confident during the birthing process.

I look forward to meeting you!
